Inside MC: Meet the Team – Randy

MC Customers enjoying the benefits of the Enhanced Complete/Close Dialog have Randy Johnson to thank for this popular new feature. Randy was tasked with configuring a custom process for a client that offered so many advantages it evolved into a new standard feature available to all customers on the 4.2 release.

Randy has been with Maintenance Connection for almost five years, and is one of our “go to” programmers for custom development and complex troubleshooting. In addition to the Enhanced Complete/Close Dialog, he spearheaded development on the GIS Manager, the Tabs Manager and the Database Job Scheduler. Randy especially enjoys the challenges presented in his job and feels fortunate to have so much variety in his work.

On the personal side, Randy has a 24 year old daughter, Jordan, of whom he is incredibly proud. Jordan, pictured at left with Randy, is a linguist in the armed forces who recently returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Behind Randy’s calm, analytical surface lurks quite the adventurer! He has enjoyed many interesting exploits, including spelunking (repelling down and exploring underground caves) and black water rafting (cave tubing) in New Zealand.  In his younger days as a ski instructor, Randy participated in some impressive  “Hike and Ski” adventures, including an escapade at Mammoth Lakes where he hiked from 9,000 feet to the 12,000 foot summit, carrying skis and boots, and then skied back down the mountain!

But don’t let these adventurous stories fool you – Randy is a “softie” at heart and huge animal lover. Over the past few years, the recession has led to an increase in pet owners forced to move and surrender their pets. Randy is actively involved in a Lab Rescue Group and has fostered several labs, in addition to working at adoption events attempting to place the animals. Randy’s own adorable lab, Chubbs, is pictured above as a pup.

In case you are not convinced of that soft side, here’s Randy’s “best of” list:

  • Best day of my life: “The day my daughter was born.”
  • Best month of my life: “Traveling around New Zealand.”
  • Best $50 I ever spent: “For a $50 print floral dress for my daughter when she was three that she wore incessantly for 2 or 3 years, until it was no longer wearableJ.”
