Maintenance Connection Gives Back

This past weekend, Maintenance Connection was involved with one of California’s Relay For Life events to benefit the American Cancer Society. As part of our 1-1-1 Plan, we place a high value on giving back to the community. Cancer affects millions across the globe every year and members of the Maintenance Connection team are no exception.

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event – a 24-hour walk signifying the fact that cancer never sleeps. Members of Maintenance Connection participated in a golf-themed fundraising booth with the tagline “Tee’d Off at Cancer”. The event was a huge success and raised nearly $60,000 to benefit ACS and their efforts to find a cure for cancer.

Inside MC: 1-1-1 Plan

As a company, we believe in giving back to our community. That’s why, in 2006, we designed an internal program we refer to as 1-1-1. The program has three components each focused on a different way to contribute to our local and national community. In this post, we’d like to give you an inside look at some of the impacts made from our 1-1-1 initiative.

The first part of the 1-1-1 plan is for Maintenance Connection to donate one percent of all software sold to a deserving organization. The second aspect of the program is for one percent of all company profits to be designated to a not for profit organization. Some of the organizations that have been impacted by this program include the American Cancer Society, United Network for Organ Sharing, Salvation Army, American Red Cross, World Vision, and many others. The final component of the program includes a donation of one percent of employee’s time volunteered at a local community organization.

Whether it is helping in the community, donating blood, or picking up groceries for the elderly, Maintenance Connection staff have committed to making this impact on the community through hundreds of volunteer hours. We are proud to have an altruistic group of individuals who find value in serving others.

Tim Workman, one of our technical services team members, was recently acknowledged in a local newspaper for his long-standing commitment to bi-weekly donating blood platelets. Tim utilizes the time allocated for 1-1-1 to visit the blood donation site every two weeks for over a year. He and his brother Mark were named Lowcountry Family of the Year by the American Red Cross for their dedication to sacrificing their time and blood for the sake of others. Way to go, Tim and Mark!
